Many calculations exist to estimate the number of calories you burn but these do not take the dynamic nature of metabolism into account which can cause you to be mislead into thinking you are eating in a kcal deficit when you are not. We can also see what level of exercise intensity your body is reacting best to in order to achieve the results you want.
The test has two phases, the resting phase and the active phase. To get an accurate representation of rest a few pre-test protocols must be followed, 7 hours fasted, 12 hours no coffee, nicotine or alcohol and 36 hours no training. Once ready for the test, 20 minutes sitting or lying in a rested position is needed, during this time the mask will be fitted and calibration will take place. The test is around 10 minutes long. The active phase will require you to wear a small back that contains the air sampling device and perform a VO2max test. This contains a 4 minute warm up period and a ramp phase where intensity is increased until you reach maximum effort.
To personalise your test we can also look at how supplements affect your metabolism is real time, this additional information can help to give better recommendations with nutrition and supplement advice. Once we have completed your baseline test, a second test will be booked within 7 days or the first test, this is where we will look to personalise test perimeters specifically for you to measure the changes form your base line.
